P1451 Fault in 1999 Ford Explorer: Fuse 13 Blows Repeatedly After Solenoid Replacement

Model: 99 Ford Explorer Fault Code: P1451 Posted: 2015-07-29 10:39

I recently received a P1451 diagnostic code on my 1999 Ford Explorer. I replaced the evaporative emission control solenoid as recommended, but the issue persists. The problem is that fuse #13 keeps blowing. When I replace the blown fuse, the vehicle operates normally for a short period—allowing me to drive around—before the fuse blows again. This cycle repeats each time I replace the fuse. Given this behavior, should I investigate the purge valve next? Or could it indicate a failing ECM (Engine Control Module)? I'm looking for guidance on troubleshooting steps that are specific to the 1999 Ford Explorer and the P145 or related circuit issues powered by fuse #13.

The issue could stem from any component in the circuit powered by fuse #13. Please check if there are additional diagnostic trouble codes or other symptoms present. If possible, I'll verify the P1451 code and related system behavior to help narrow down the root cause.
