99 Ford Escort SE 2.0 Engine Code P1451: Solenoid Power Issue and Diagnosis Steps
I have a 1999 Ford Escort SE with a 2.0L engine that is showing Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1451. I replaced the evaporative emission canister and its solenoid, but the Check Engine Light remains on. After checking for power at both terminals of the solenoid, I found no voltage. I've inspected the wiring and don't see any breaks or damage. My question is: where does the solenoid draw its power from? Should there be constant power to one of the wires? Is there a specific fuse that controls this circuit? Any guidance on troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.
Are there any other diagnostic codes present? Could an oxygen sensor issue be contributing? When you unplug the vent valve, is there 12V present on the white/blue wire? Is there voltage on the blue/pink wire? Is the blue/pink wire properly grounded?
