P0741 Diagnostic Guide for 1999 Chevrolet Venture - Torque Converter Clutch Issue

Model: 99 Chev Venture Fault Code: P0741 Posted: 2006-03-11 21:23

I'm encountering a P0741 diagnostic code on my 1999 Chevrolet Venture, and I'm wondering if anyone can provide guidance. The code appeared during a routine check, and it's not related to fuel or emission systems as expected. Based on the information, this code is typically associated with issues involving the torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid—either a performance problem, a stuck-off condition, or a wiring fault. While transmission fluid filter replacement is often recommended for maintenance, it may not resolve the P0741 code itself. I'm considering using a scan tool to actuate the TCC and test its functionality. Does anyone have experience with this issue on older GM vehicles? Specifically, does my van exhibit stalling or erratic shifting behavior?

No issues with shifting. This code appears to be the first sign of a potential transmission problem.

While regular transmission servicing is beneficial, it's unlikely to resolve the P0741 code. A wiring issue or failure in the TCC solenoid itself should be investigated first. Good luck—please update if you find a resolution.
