1998 Oldsmobile 88 P0336 Code: Reappears After 4 Days or 100 Miles of Driving

I own a 1998 Oldsmobile 88 with a 3800 series engine. The vehicle is showing fault code P0336, indicating a crankshaft position sensor issue. I recently replaced the crankcase position sensor, but the code returns consistently: if the car sits for about four days, the code reappears immediately. If cleared and driven approximately 100 miles, it returns again after driving. I have attempted clearing the code six times with no lasting resolution. The vehicle runs smoothly without noticeable misfires, though I occasionally detect a hot exhaust smell. Due to lack of an oscilloscope, I cannot confirm if there are underlying ignition issues.
