98 Chevrolet K1500 with P1345 Trouble Code After Rebuilding 5.7L Engine
I recently rebuilt the 5.7L engine in my 1998 Chevrolet K1500 and installed a new distributor. Despite this, I'm still receiving the P1345 diagnostic trouble code. I have an OBD2 scanner, but I'm unsure whether this issue is simply due to improper distributor alignment or if it could indicate a faulty cam position sensor. Could adjusting the distributor position resolve the problem, or should I suspect a malfunctioning cam position sensor?
If you have an OBD2 scanner, that's half the battle. Check the cam shaft position (cam position) PID reading—ideally it should be close to 0 degrees. If the value is outside the specified range, gently rotate the distributor until the reading falls within specifications.
