97 Dodge Stratus P1390 Code: Is It Really a Timing Belt Skipped Tooth Issue?

My 1997 Dodge Stratus is showing a Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1390: 'Wheel Speed Sensor - 1 - G - Sensor Circuit'. However, when I checked the Chrysler DTC database, it lists P1390 as indicating a 'Timing Belt Skipped One Tooth or More'. This seems contradictory — wheel speed sensors typically don't use the 'P' designation. Is this code actually related to timing belt misalignment? Or is there another explanation for this error?

The P1390 code is unlikely to be a wheel speed sensor issue — those codes usually don't use the 'P' prefix. Check if the car has been recently serviced, especially regarding the timing belt or water pump replacement.

A year ago i replace the timing belt when i replaced the head gasket, the check engine light was on before this work was done as well, so its possible that is the case but the car runs smooth, i also just replaced the O2 sensor and the cat, that took care of the 3 other codes that showed up i just can't get that engine light to shut off so it will pass emissions

Double-check your timing marks — they can be tricky to align correctly during maintenance or repairs, and a misalignment could trigger this code even if the belt hasn't skipped teeth.
