P1617 Diagnostic and Repair Guide for 1996 Volvo 960 Wagon

Has anyone experienced a P1617 fault code on their 1996 Volvo 960 wagon? The vehicle won't start, though it cranks over smoothly. All fuses appear to be in good condition, but I haven't yet tested the relays. Unfortunately, I cleared the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and its associated information before I could document it properly. Any insights or troubleshooting steps for this specific issue would be greatly appreciated.

I've never personally encountered P1617, but I found the following reference at http://www.resettools.com/volvo_dtc_codes: P1617 indicates a cable fault between AW 50-42 connector at the TCM and the Motronic 4.4 ECM (lamp lights). This could point to an electrical connection issue in the wiring harness between these two components, which may prevent proper communication and result in starting failure.
