96 Riviera DTC P1406

I am trying to figure this code out but am having no luck. I have tried 3 different egr valves and the SES light comes on every time telling me egr valve pintle position error. The car has 156K and everything else checks out to be good. Over the past 50K I have replaced the intake gaskets, water pump, plugs/wires, valve cover gaskets, fuel filter and on and on. Anyone have any experience with this trouble code? Is there any way to test the egr off the vehicle? Thanks

Check with the dealer there may be a computer flash for this.

So if I call them up what do I ask for? Computer flash? I have tried unhooking the battery overnight as well with no luck. Thanks

Check for a short in the wires going to the solenoid and also check for vacuum.

I have checked out all the obvious stuff that's what's driving me nutz! I can't find any vacuum leaks or shorts. Unless a short is inside one of the wire looms!
