Repeat P1151, P1152, and P0153 Codes on 1996 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 with Exhaust and O2 Sensor Diagnostics
I own a 1996 Ford Ranger with a 3.0L V6 engine, 2WD, 5-speed manual transmission. After installing the clutch, the truck immediately started triggering P1151 and P1152 fault codes, causing the engine warning light to illuminate. Prior to this, the engine was running normally with the check engine light off. I inspected the wiring and connector for the upstream oxygen sensor on the passenger side (Bank 2, Sensor 1) and found no issues. I replaced that O2 sensor, but the P1151 and P1152 codes returned instantly. Since the exhaust system was previously removed during maintenance, I performed a thorough leak check and found no signs of exhaust leaks. The original catalytic converter has over 250,000 miles on it. Currently, the truck is displaying P1151, P1152, and P0153 codes. Given this pattern, I suspect the catalytic converter may be failing. Any insights or troubleshooting steps for these specific fault codes in a 1996 Ranger? Thanks in advance, David.
Are the electrical circuits fully intact and properly grounded at both ends of the sensor connector?
