P0401 code on 96 Ford Taurus
Hi All, If anyone could help it would be appreciated. I have a 96 Ford Taurus, V6 3.0 24V OHC with a P0401 "EGR Flow Insufficient" that will not clear. I replaced the EGR valve. Code returned. I found the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid broke off it's mount and fell behind the engine connected to the vacuum hose assembly and melted. I have no idea how long it was like that. I replaced it and cleared the code. The code returned. I pulled the vacuum hose assembly off and cleaned it with carb cleaner and canned air. Two of the hoses were clogged. This helped with the vacuum to the solenoid which I was not getting. The code returned. I just replaced the DPFE sensor with the new and improved plastic one from Ford. The code returned. That about covers the EGR emissions part of the engine as far as parts. Anyone have any ideas other then junking the car? Fred
waht about the circuit form the dpfe to the pcm? Have you removed the throttle body and cleanned those ports?
