Frequent P2252 Code in 2020 Toyota Outlander GT - Diagnosis and Testing Methods

Model: 2020 Outlander GT Fault Code: P2252 Posted: 2024-02-16 07:34

I've been experiencing recurring P2252 fault codes in my 2020 Toyota Outlander GT. The code appears sporadically, sometimes resolving on its own, other times requiring an OBD-II scanner to reset it. On average, the MIL light reactivates after driving approximately 600 to 700 miles. The vehicle runs smoothly with no noticeable performance issues—only the check engine light remains on. I've inspected the wiring harness and connectors for the Bank 1 Air-Fuel Ratio Sensor, and everything appears physically intact. However, due to its location deep beneath the intake manifold, I haven't been able to access or test the sensor directly. I'm looking for guidance on whether there's a way to evaluate this sensor using measurements taken at the connector end. While I'm experienced with traditional oxygen (O2) sensor testing procedures, I have limited knowledge about air-fuel ratio sensors. Could you please advise on potential causes of the P2252 code and recommend reliable diagnostic steps or tools? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Refer to our forum's detailed trouble codes section for additional context. Use an OBD-II scan tool to monitor the air-fuel ratio sensor in real time. Perform a few quick throttle snaps and observe if there is measurable voltage or current variation from the sensor. Share your results with us so we can assess further.
