2018 Toyota Camry P0500 Fault: Transmission Stuck in Neutral with Grinding Noise
I'm experiencing a Vehicle Control Module (VCM) sensor fault indicated by Diagnostic Trouble Code P0500 on my 2018 Toyota Camry. When the code is triggered, the transmission fails to shift into any gear and remains stuck in neutral. Attempting to move the shifter back into park results in a grinding noise. The car can still be manually moved, which suggests mechanical movement is possible but not properly controlled by the transmission system. I have already checked the neutral safety switch located behind the shifter, and it appears functional. My vehicle's transmission is labeled as maintenance-free, so I'm unsure whether transmission fluid can be added or if there are any service procedures available for this model. Any insights on how to diagnose or resolve the P0500 code in a 2018 Toyota Camry would be greatly appreciated.
