2016 Jeep Cherokee P0885 Code: Can Extreme Cold Weather Trigger It?
Has anyone experienced a P0885 code in their 2016 Jeep Cherokee during extreme cold weather? I recently remote-started my vehicle, which then timed out. When attempting to start it manually, the car displayed the P0885 diagnostic trouble code. My Jeep has 97,000 miles and has never had powertrain-related issues before. Given that we experienced a sudden temperature drop from the 30s to -10°F, I'm wondering if cold weather could interfere with transmission sensor readings—possibly affecting fluid level detection. The vehicle is parked in a detached garage. Before diving into TCM or computer diagnostics, I want to confirm whether low transmission fluid or sensor malfunctions due to cold temperatures might be the root cause of this code.
