P2281 Air Leak Between MAF and Throttle Body on 2015 Ram 3500 6.7L Diesel

Model: 2015 Ram 6.7 Fault Code: P2281 Posted: 2021-09-18 18:34

I own a 2015 Ram 3500 with the 6.7L diesel engine and recently received a P2281 diagnostic code from my Snap-on scanner. The issue began after installing a Banks Cold Air Intake, followed by a pulse air exhaust manifold and an Aurora 4000 turbo upgrade (adding 47 horsepower over stock). Between 30 to 50 mph, after the engine warms up, the truck exhibits noticeable jerking during acceleration. No symptoms occur when cold—water temperature gauge needle moves normally at startup. I contacted Banks, who sent a new cold air intake pipe as a replacement. I then installed a cleaned MAF and MAP sensor, ensuring proper fitment and secure installation within the intake system. Despite these efforts, the jerky behavior persists. The P2281 code suggests an air leak between the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) and throttle body, which may be exacerbated by modifications or improper sealing in the intake path.
