2015 Chrysler 200C U0001 Code: Check Engine Light, Power Loss, and Transmission Shifting Issues

Model: 2015 Chrysler 200C Fault Code: U0001 Posted: 2017-05-06 09:03

My 2015 Chrysler 200C with a 3.6L engine has recently developed a check engine light issue, showing fault code U0001. The vehicle was purchased from a local Chrysler dealership in Ontario on April 28, 2017, and had 27,000 km on the odometer at that time. On the following evening, the check engine light activated. Initially, I suspected a loose gas cap, but the issue persisted. I attempted to clear the code by turning the vehicle off and on three times, which temporarily resolved the problem. However, on Sunday, the light reappeared, accompanied by noticeable power loss—similar to being stuck in a higher gear. I contacted the dealership on Monday morning, but appointments were only available until Wednesday, May 3rd. A service technician performed diagnostics and troubleshooting, concluding that electromagnetic interference in the steering column wiring was causing the issue. The tech isolated the affected wires to reduce interference, and after this repair, the vehicle operated normally for several days. On May 5th, I noticed slight abrupt shifting while driving. As I prepared to reverse out of my driveway, applying gas resulted in no response—only a very light kickback. After reaching the grocery store, when reversing back into the driveway, the vehicle suddenly acted unresponsive. The shifter display blinked, and the dashboard indicated that pedals were unavailable, despite not being in sport mode. I managed to regain control and drive home. The car again exhibited symptoms of being stuck in a higher gear. I am now deeply concerned and will need to contact the dealership on Monday for further inspection. This issue appears to be related to transmission shifting behavior—particularly during highway merges, where the vehicle performed an odd downshift resembling a standard transmission. Given these symptoms, I suspect an electrical communication problem within the transmission system. While the initial diagnosis pointed to steering column wiring interference, the recurring and worsening symptoms suggest a deeper issue involving transmission control modules or wiring. I have attached the previous service report from Wednesday for reference. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their 2015 Chrysler 200C? I am especially interested in hearing from owners who have encountered U0001 code and related transmission electrical problems.

Check the official recall database for your 2015 Chrysler 200C—there is a known recall related to transmission wiring and communication faults that may be causing U0001 code and erratic shifting behavior. This issue affects vehicle control signals between the transmission and powertrain modules, leading to sudden loss of responsiveness and gear-related anomalies.
