2014 VW Jetta TDI ECL Engine Code P2002 - Low Efficiency Bank 1 After Fuel Filter Replacement

Model: 2014 vw jetta tdi ecl Fault Code: P2002 Posted: 2015-07-28 11:08

Seeking help with a recurring issue on my 2014 VW Jetta TDI ECL. The vehicle has triggered engine code P2002, indicating low efficiency in Bank 1 after a recent fuel filter replacement at an authorized dealer shop. The Check Engine Light activated approximately 30 miles after the service. I'm concerned whether this error is directly related to the fuel filter change or if it points to another underlying issue. Since P2002 relates to exhaust system efficiency, I want to confirm if a fuel filter replacement could be causing this code — especially as the filter is part of the exhaust system and not the fuel delivery path. The vehicle has 44,000 miles and was serviced at an authorized VW dealer. Is this issue still covered under warranty? What steps should I take to resolve it?

This is not a fuel-related issue. The exhaust filter system (part of the exhaust system) functions as a cleaning mechanism for dirty exhaust gases. My concern is whether this repair was performed by an authorized VW dealer, as such systems may still be covered under warranty.

The fuel filter was replaced at an authorized VW dealer. With 44,000 miles on the odometer, is this service still eligible for warranty coverage? I'm checking if there's any remaining protection available under the manufacturer's warranty.

I recommend contacting the dealership directly to address the P2002 code and determine whether a diagnostic or repair is needed, especially given that it appeared after a service visit.

Is this the same authorized dealer? Or can I take my vehicle to another authorized VW dealership in a different state for diagnosis and repair? The current dealer is located out of state and may not be convenient or equipped to handle this issue.
