P0403 Diagnostic and Fix for 2014 Ford Transit Connect with 2.5L Engine
I recently encountered a P0403 diagnostic trouble code on my 2014 Ford Transit Connect equipped with a 2.5L engine. After replacing the EGR valve with a factory-original unit, the code reappeared after driving just a few miles. The issue seems to occur specifically when accelerating quickly or making sudden throttle inputs followed by releasing the gas—common in traffic situations. On several occasions, I noticed rough idle conditions immediately after the P0403 appeared; however, careful and gradual throttle control allows me to avoid triggering the code entirely. This suggests a potential sensitivity in the EGR system response under dynamic driving conditions. The 2014 Ford Transit Connect with its 2.5L engine appears particularly prone to this behavior when EGR valve operation is not properly synchronized with engine load changes.
