2014 Chevrolet Impala DTC U0150 U15-0E U0164: Gateway and HVAC Module Location & Diagnosis Tips

Model: 2014 CHEVY IMPALA Fault Code: U0150 Posted: 2018-10-06 11:47

Hello everyone, I'm new to car diagnostics and would greatly appreciate any help. My 2014 Chevrolet Impala is showing three diagnostic trouble codes: U0150 (Lost communication with gateway E), U150E (Implausible data length received from drive motor control module 1), and U0164 (Lost communication with HVAC control module). All fuses have been checked and are functioning properly. I'm using a Launch CRP 429 scanner. Could someone please confirm the exact locations of the gateway E module and the HVAC control module in a 2014 Chevrolet Impala? I'm trying to troubleshoot this issue myself to avoid dealership visits, as I prefer DIY repairs. Any guidance on next steps—such as checking TSBs or specific wiring harnesses—would be very helpful.

Before proceeding, please verify the codes — they might be misread. Double-check if it's actually U1500 and U1500E instead of U150E. The gateway module is typically located in the Body Control Module (BCM) unit, often under the dashboard or in the passenger side fuse box area. Confirming the correct code is essential before diagnosing further.

Thanks so much for the clarification! I've already inspected the DLC harness and all accessible wiring — no visible pinching, damage, or corrosion. The wiring layout in my vehicle differs from the TSB diagrams, which makes direct comparison tricky. I’ve also checked all ground connections under the hood; they’re clean and securely fastened. Any additional diagnostic steps or known issues for 2014 Impala with these codes would be incredibly helpful. I'm determined to fix this myself — any tips on where to start next?
