2013 Ram 2500 6.7L Diesel - Intermittent P0716 Turbine Speed Sensor Fault and Wiring Issues

Model: 2013 Ram 2500 Fault Code: P0716 Posted: 2017-11-07 20:07

My 2013 Ram 2500 with a 6.7L diesel engine is experiencing intermittent turbine speed sensor faults, indicated by OBD code P0716. The sensor shows only 5 volts input, and the wiring appears damaged or burned. I'm concerned about what could cause connector wires to overheat or degrade, especially given that the sensor readings are inconsistent. Despite replacing both the turbine speed sensor and associated wiring harnesses, the issue persists—transmission shifts erratically and P0716 reappears intermittently. Could this be a grounding problem, faulty wiring connection, or a transmission control module (TCM) fault? Any insights on diagnosing or fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced the sensor and wiring harnesses, but found no actual burn marks—only tape residue on the connectors. The issue remains: transmission shifts erratically and P0716 appears intermittently. Given that I've already swapped out both sensors, this strongly points to either a faulty wiring connection or a defective transmission control module (TCM). I'm looking for advice on how to properly test the harness continuity or whether a TCM reflash might resolve it.
