2013 Chevy Malibu EXO 2.4L Engine Light On - P0014 Fault: VVT Solenoid or Cam Shaft Position Sensor?

My engine light turned on yesterday. After running a diagnostic, the OBD2 scanner returned code P0014. I researched this code and found that it commonly points to an issue with the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid for the intake or exhaust valves. However, the auto shop I visited diagnosed the same P0014 code but suggested replacing the camshaft position sensor instead. The part cost them $130, while online listings show prices around $50. I'm hesitant to pay a premium and would like to confirm whether this diagnosis is accurate or if there's another possible cause. Any insights or advice on how to properly diagnose and fix P0014 in my 2013 Chevy Malibu EXO with a 2.4L engine would be greatly appreciated.
