2012 Mustang Evaporative Emission Codes 0455 and 0457: Covered by EPA Design and Defect Warranty?

Model: 2012 Mustang Fault Code: P0455 Posted: 2015-02-06 22:40

I own a 2012 Ford Mustang and recently received diagnostic codes 0455 and 0457, both related to the Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP). The dealership has recommended replacing the EVAP canister, purge valve, and filler neck, stating that these parts are not covered under the EPA Design and Defect Warranty. However, according to the official EPA website, certain EVAP system components should be covered under this warranty. I contacted Ford Customer Service, and a representative said they were reviewing their list of covered parts—only identifying the filler neck as covered. Upon checking the Ford website, I confirmed that the filler neck is listed at the bottom of the page, with an earlier section titled 'Evaporative Emission Control System' above it. My 2012 Mustang has a no-gas-cap EVAP system, and I’ve heard similar issues reported by other owners. Can anyone confirm whether the entire EVAP system (canister, purge valve, filler neck) is covered under the EPA Design and Defect Warranty? Is Ford's claim that only the filler neck is covered accurate or misleading?
