P0230 OBD2 Fault Code in 2012 Chevrolet Malibu: Stalling and Starting Issues

Model: 2012 Malibu Fault Code: P0230 Posted: 2016-02-24 09:31

My 2012 Chevrolet Malibu is experiencing frequent stalling while driving and sometimes fails to start altogether. I have already replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, and checked the fuel pump fuse and ignition switch. The car occasionally starts after removing and reinstalling the relay, but it often gets stuck and only starts after a delay. Given that the OBD2 code P0230 is showing up, which indicates a fuel injector circuit issue, I'm wondering if there's another underlying cause—such as a faulty wiring connection or a short in the trunk fuse box affecting the fuel pump relay circuit.

Have you made any modifications to the vehicle, such as installing a remote starter or aftermarket alarm? These could potentially interfere with electrical systems and trigger intermittent starting issues.

I also own a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu and am experiencing identical symptoms—starting then stalling, or failing to start for extended periods. I've replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuse, and ignition switch. A new battery was installed with no improvement. My current theory is that there may be a short in the trunk fuse box or a poor connection in the wiring leading to the fuel pump relay. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, my remote start didn't work when I originally purchased the car, so I replaced it with Amazon remotes about a month ago—could this aftermarket device be contributing to the electrical instability?
