2012 Hyundai Veracruz P0700 Code: Transmission Control Issue After Alternator Replacement

Model: 2012 Hyundai Veracruz Fault Code: P0700 Posted: 2016-07-06 13:31

Yesterday, I was driving my 2012 Hyundai Veracruz when I suddenly noticed all dashboard lights came on and the vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph, no matter how hard I pressed the accelerator. I initially thought the battery had died, so I replaced it. After starting the car, the check engine light illuminated. Later that day, the car stalled again with the same symptoms. A mechanic diagnosed the issue as a failing alternator, which I replaced today. Despite this repair, the check engine light remains on. The repair shop scanned the vehicle and found fault code P0700 — Transmission Control System Malfunction. They were unable to clear the code, as it returns after reset. Importantly, the car drives normally: no transmission slipping, no stalling at stops, and shifting appears smooth. I have 63,000 miles on the vehicle. The issue seems unrelated to drivability but persists after alternator repair. Any insights into what might be causing P0700 in a 2012 Hyundai Veracruz would be greatly appreciated.

The 2012 Hyundai Verac-uz is not commonly sold in North America, so I don't have specific experience with this model. However, P0700 typically indicates a transmission control module issue or sensor malfunction. Since the car drives fine and no transmission problems are present, it's possible the code is triggered by a faulty signal from the transmission control unit (TCU) or an electrical glitch. Consider checking for loose wiring or voltage drops in the TCU circuit. Also, ensure the transmission fluid level and condition are within specifications — even if symptoms aren't apparent, low fluid can cause intermittent faults. This issue may not be directly related to the alternator but could stem from a shared electrical system or sensor interference.
