2012 Ford F-150 P0627 Code: Fuel Pump 'A' Circuit Open - Blown Relay & Diagnosis

Model: 2012 Ford F-150 Fault Code: P0627 Posted: 2018-05-06 18:03

While driving, my 2012 Ford F-150 suddenly lost power and died on the side of the road. Upon inspection, I found that the fuse for the fuel pump relay was blown. After replacing the fuse at home, the vehicle displayed diagnostic code P0627, indicating an open circuit in the fuel pump 'A' circuit. Possible causes include a faulty fuel pump, defective fuel control module, or malfunctioning ECU. Has anyone else experienced this issue? What steps did you take to resolve it?

If the problem is intermittent and occurs alongside a blown fuse, it's more likely that there's a short in the fuel pump circuit wiring to ground rather than a failure of the fuel pump module or ECU itself.

I followed dealership advice to relocate the fuel pump fuse. A $21 kit and about an hour of my time later, the issue persisted. I eventually dropped the fuel tank and replaced the pump—turns out it had a short circuit that caused both the blown fuse and the P0620 code.
