2012 Dodge Avenger SE 2.4L Fault Codes P2101, P2110, P2118 - Throttle Actuator Issues and Repair Options

Model: 2012 Dodge Avenger SE Fault Code: P2101 Posted: 2017-10-09 13:51

I experienced this issue approximately one year ago and was able to clear the fault codes using a scan tool, after which the vehicle ran normally. However, I've encountered the same problem again with no success in clearing the codes. The diagnostic trouble codes are as follows: (1) P2101 - Throttle Actuator Control Motor Circuit Range/Performance; (2) P2110 - Throttle Actuator Control Motor Current Range/Performance; (3) P2118 - Throttle Actuator Control System Forced Limit RPM. I'm trying to determine whether this indicates a need for replacing the entire throttle body, or if it could be caused by a faulty throttle position sensor, wiring harness, or motor component. Could anyone provide guidance on what these components look like and where they are located in my 2012 Dodge Avenger SE? Any detailed information or visual references would be greatly appreciated.

The Dorman throttle body comes with a lifetime warranty and is available through Wrench Monkey. While I can't guarantee its quality, I'm planning to replace it for the second time in six months. The labor cost will be around $250 plus taxes. This option may be worth considering if you're looking for an affordable replacement with long-term support.
