P0300 & P0302 Fault Diagnosis for 2012 Chevy Traverse 3.6L - Spark, Fuel or Mechanical Issue?

Model: 2012 Chevy Traverse Fault Code: P0300 Posted: 2016-12-02 19:53

I'm experiencing a persistent misfire on cylinder #2 of my 2012 Chevrolet Traverse with a 3.6L engine, indicated by fault codes P0300 and P0302. I've already replaced the spark plug and coil pack for cylinder #2, checked the gap, cleaned the fuel injector chamber using a spray cleaner, and inspected the wiring harnesses connected to the cylinder. Despite these steps, the issue persists. I haven- t encountered this specific misfire problem on any of my other Chevrolet vehicles. Given that the engine has three cam position sensors in total, I'm now considering whether one of them might be faulty — but I’m unsure which one to replace, as each costs around $30. Can anyone provide guidance on how to properly diagnose this issue? Is it more likely a spark-related problem, fuel delivery failure, or mechanical/pressure issues such as compression or vacuum leaks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Diagnosing misfires without an OBD2 scanner can be time-consuming. Start with the basics: - Has there been any recent maintenance or modifications? - Are all spark plugs AC Delco (or same brand and type)? - Any aftermarket parts installed? Cylinder #2 is located on the front passenger side. For misfire troubleshooting, systematically check: spark, fuel delivery, compression, and vacuum integrity. Ensure all connectors for the coil and injector are secure, free from corrosion, with good contact — no visible wire damage.
