2012 Cadillac SRX P0014 and P0017 Fault - 85K Miles, MIL On, Power Reduction
I have a 2012 Cadillac SRX with a 3.6L engine, currently showing P0014 and P0017 diagnostic trouble codes. The codes appear intermittently over the past nine months, and recently the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) has stayed lit along with a reduced power warning. After three engine starts, the vehicle returns to full power, but the MIL remains on. Given this behavior, is it more likely that the issue stems from the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve? The vehicle has reached 85,000 miles and I'm concerned about potential long-term engine performance or timing chain issues associated with this engine model.
The 2012 Cadillac SRX 3.6L has known issues with camshaft actuator solenoid failures and potential timing chain problems—these are common in that engine series. If the vehicle is still within warranty, it's worth contacting the dealer immediately to discuss coverage under the 5-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Given the intermittent nature of the codes and persistent MIL illumination, early diagnosis may prevent further damage.
