2012 Buick Regal 2.0L Turbo Engine Codes P0014, P0016, P0017 - Sensor or VCT Solenoid Issue at 81,000 Miles?

Model: 2012 Buick Regal Fault Code: P0014 Posted: 2016-12-24 14:15

My 2012 Buick Regal with 81,000 miles has recently triggered engine fault codes P0014, P0016, and P0017. The oil was changed less than one month ago using Mobil 1 synthetic oil. I'm currently in a cold-weather climate. Given this mileage, is this more likely a sensor issue or a Variable Valve Control (VCT) solenoid problem? I've cleared the codes and am monitoring for recurrence. Any guidance on where to start troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.

Start with the simplest fixes first — most cases of P0014, P0016, and P0017 are related to the VCT solenoid. Begin by inspecting the electrical connectors for corrosion or loose connections. If that checks out, consider replacing the VCT solenoids. Although only one solenoid may be faulty, it's common practice to replace both in a pair due to system design. Also, ensure you're using the correct viscosity oil — VCT systems rely heavily on engine oil quality and lubrication for proper operation.
