P0448 Diagnostic Issue on 2011 Nissan Frontier - Voltage Test Results

Model: 2011 Nissan Frontier Fault Code: P0448 Posted: 2015-09-22 07:01

I've measured the voltage supplied to the vent control vent valve and recorded only 10.85 volts. Is this sufficient for the vent valve to operate correctly? The vehicle is a 2011 Nissan Frontier with a P0448 diagnostic code indicating a problem with the evaporative emission system vent control. I suspect that the expected voltage should match battery voltage (12V) to ensure proper operation of the vent valve. I've tested the wiring by disconnecting the connector and measuring terminal 1 and terminal 2—terminal 1 shows 12V, but terminal 2 reads no voltage when disconnected. A simple test suggests: apply 12V to terminal 1, ground terminal 2, and observe if the vent valve closes properly. If it does not seal or respond, this may indicate a faulty valve or wiring issue.

The expected voltage should be battery voltage (12V). You're testing with the wire disconnected—check if terminal 1 has 12V and terminal 2 shows no voltage when unplugged. A basic test: connect 12V to terminal 1, ground terminal 2, and verify whether the vent valve closes and seals. If it fails to respond, this could point to a defective valve or wiring fault.
