2011 Toyota Equinox Stalling with P1195 Code - Diagnosis and Fix Guide

Model: 2011 Equinox Fault Code: P1195 Posted: 2018-02-19 14:22

I own a 2011 Toyota Equinox that is displaying a P1195 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) on the dashboard. The vehicle has been experiencing intermittent stalling, low engine power, and now fails to crank properly after being driven. I'm trying to understand what this specific code means and how it affects engine performance. Can anyone provide insight into the cause of P1195 in a 2011 Equinox? Any guidance on troubleshooting or repair steps would be greatly appreciated.

Get an OBD-II scan at your local auto parts store — many offer free diagnostics. Once you retrieve the full DTC list, share it here for more accurate analysis. Also, please confirm which engine variant you have (e.g., 2.4L 4-cylinder), as P1195 is not commonly listed in basic quick-reference guides and may require deeper investigation.

I have a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. I used an OBD-II scanner to check the codes, which showed a P0010 — 'A Camshaft Actuator Solenoid Open Circuit, Bank 1'. I purchased a new solenoid from Oriellys but received the exhaust-side unit instead of the intake-side one. After learning this, I realized both solenoids should be replaced simultaneously. I’ll replace both when it stops raining, as the issue began with a low power warning and eventually led to engine stalling. The vehicle cranked once after being driven home but now will not start at all.
