2011 Chevy Malibu Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Fault - No RPMs After Replacement

Model: 2011 Chevy Malibu Fault Code: P0340 Posted: 2017-03-25 08:10

I replaced the crankshaft position sensor in my 2011 Chevy Malibu with a 2.4-liter engine this morning. After installation, the vehicle cranks but shows no RPMs and will not start. I'm looking for advice on possible causes or troubleshooting steps.

Why was the crankshaft position sensor replaced? What diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are currently stored in the ECU? I recommend starting with the most recent maintenance work. Check the electrical connector for tightness, corrosion, and any bent pins or terminals. Ensure wiring integrity is good. Also, did the vehicle run normally before the replacement? Try swapping back to the old sensor to verify if it's the new unit causing the issue.

Always check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) first — they are essential in identifying the root cause of the crankshaft position sensor circuit fault.
