2011 Chevrolet Equinox 2.4L Persistent P0016 and P0017 Codes After Replacing Sensors and Actuators
I've been experiencing persistent OBD2 fault codes P0016 and P0017 on my 2011 Chevrolet Equinox with a 2.4L engine. I have already replaced the camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, both variable valve timing actuators, and spark plugs. The vehicle runs smoothly under normal conditions, but the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) remains illuminated with the same codes. Despite these replacements, the issue persists. What should I check next to resolve this problem? Are there any specific components or wiring issues that could be causing the recurring fault?
Did you replace the camshaft solenoids as well? The solenoids are located externally on the cylinder head. These codes often point to incorrect camshaft installation or a shorted solenoid causing improper camshaft advance. Have you checked for grounded circuits at the solenoid connectors? A stuck-open solenoid could be the root cause—be sure to inspect both electrical connections and mechanical alignment.
