I've been experiencing a check engine light that comes on and off for approximately two months. I'm not very knowledgeable about car mechanics, so I'd like to understand what's causing this issue. I'm concerned about paying $100 for diagnostics only to be told it's something simple like a cracked gas cap. Can anyone provide insight into the actual root cause of the P2187 code on my 2010 VW Passat?
