2010 VW CC 2.0L Engine Faults: P0444, P2008, P0243, P0010, P0245 - Oil Filter Issue Linked?

Model: 2010 VW CC Fault Code: P0010 Posted: 2018-07-07 11:16

I recently changed the oil in my 2010 VW CC 2.0L, but was unable to replace the oil filter because the technician at AutoZone provided the wrong filter. I had no choice but to reinstall the old filter due to work commitments that prevented me from returning within four weeks. Since then, I've experienced multiple engine issues and check engine light-related fault codes: P0444, P2008, P0243, P0010, and P0245. While the oil was full and I never saw the check engine light come on, the EPC light has been active. I've already replaced the crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, and oil pressure sensor, but problems persist. I'm now wondering whether using a dirty or incorrect oil filter could be contributing to these fault codes, especially given that the issue began after the wrong filter was installed.

Can you confirm which specific OBD2 diagnostic codes you're seeing? P0444, P2008, P0243, P0010, and P0245 are all distinct issues—could you share the full list of codes for better diagnosis?

I have P0444, P2008, P0243, P0010, and P0245. I've already replaced the crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, and oil pressure sensor. The car alerted me to low engine oil pressure—this was extremely alarming because I knew my oil level was full. I'm now concerned whether using a dirty or incorrect oil filter could be causing these issues. I’ve never seen the check engine light come on in this vehicle, and the EPC light has been on for some time. I suspect the problem started after installing the wrong oil filter at AutoZone. The staff there was unhelpful and refused to assist further—this is now a major concern. I’d like to take action against them if necessary.

A dirty or improperly installed oil filter can contribute to P0010 (camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction) due to poor lubrication and increased engine wear. However, the other codes—such as P0444 (evaporative emission system leak), P2008 (fuel injection pressure issue), P0243 (exhaust gas temperature too high), and P0245 (exhaust gas temperature sensor fault)—are independent of oil filter quality and likely stem from separate mechanical or sensor issues.
