Fault Code P0734 in 2010 Kia Rio: Diagnosis and Resolution After Sensor Replacement

Model: 2010 Kia Rio Fault Code: P0734 Posted: 2017-04-07 06:26

I recently replaced the vehicle transmission speed sensor on my 2010 Kia Rio, and while the car seems to be running more smoothly, I'm still not confident that it's properly engaging 4th gear. The fault code P0734 persists even after the sensor replacement. I've checked the transmission fluid levels and confirmed that both input and output speed sensors have been replaced. However, I'm unsure if overdrive (OD) is disabled or if there are any underlying issues with gear engagement. Any advice on how to properly diagnose this issue would be greatly appreciated. A scanner to monitor input and output speeds in real time would help confirm whether the readings fall within acceptable ranges.

The P0734 code has been cleared after replacing the transmission speed sensors — is that the only fault code now? Have you verified transmission fluid level and condition? Did you replace both input and output speed sensors (the attached unit)? Is overdrive (OD) currently disabled in your vehicle settings? A diagnostic scan tool is required to compare actual input and output gear speeds. Are these readings within manufacturer-specified ranges? Diagnostics should proceed from this data point.
