P0750 Misfire and Transmission Shift Failure - 2010 Jeep Liberty Ignition Coil Replacement Fix

Model: 2010 Jeep Liberty Fault Code: P0750 Posted: 2018-06-28 16:06

While driving home on the freeway, my 2010 Jeep Liberty began shaking and failed to shift properly. I took it to a repair shop, where they diagnosed a misfire and recommended replacing the ignition coils and spark plugs. I replaced all ignition coils and spark plug wires. After the replacement, the vehicle runs smoothly but now displays fault code P0750 — indicating a transmission shift issue. The transmission fluid level is normal and appears clean. I'm concerned that during the repair process, something may have been dislodged or damaged. Since the P0750 code appeared after replacing the ignition coils, could this be related? Did the replacement cause damage to the shift solenoid? I've checked all fuses and they are intact. Could the ignition coil replacement have triggered a transmission fault, or is there another underlying issue causing the shifting failure?

Common causes of P0750 include: Insufficient transmission fluid level, dirty or contaminated fluid, clogged or defective transmission filter, faulty transmission valve body, restricted hydraulic passages, internal transmission failure, defective shift solenoid, corroded or damaged connectors, faulty wiring, or a malfunctioning Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The P0750 code may have been pending initially due to shifting problems and vehicle shaking. It's important to check the full diagnostic history — what specific codes were stored at the time of first symptoms? You replaced all ignition coils and wires — did the shop perform a complete circuit test or transmission system scan before concluding the issue was resolved?

Is this a consistent (hard) fault or intermittent? Try turning off the vehicle, waiting a few minutes, then restarting. Does it enter default mode or shift properly after restart? This can help determine if the issue is software-related or hardware-based.
