2010 Honda Civic VTi P0776 Code: Solenoid B Stuck Off - Shift Issues and Fix Guidance

Model: 2010 Honda Civic Fault Code: P0776 Posted: 2018-07-19 17:21

Hi, I own a 2010 Honda Civic VTi (Original Prosthetic model). A few days ago, the transmission started behaving irregularly — it fails to shift into 4th and 5th gears, and produces a severe jerk during 3rd gear shifts. After scanning the vehicle, I found DTC P0776: Solenoid B Stuck Off. I replaced the transmission fluid with Honda ATF DW1 (3.5 liters). After clearing the code via scanner, the car shifted smoothly for a few kilometers before returning to the same issues — jerking in 3rd gear and failure to shift into 4th and -5th gears. I repeated the fluid change and cleaned the external transmission filter, which was clogged. All connectors were inspected and reconnected properly. I then replaced both Solenoid B and C assemblies (body housing). After rescan, all DTCs were cleared. Currently, two P0776 codes appear: one with 'Current' status and another with 'Previous' status. The car shifts normally now — but as soon as I clear the DTC data, the shifting problems return. I'm now unsure whether to proceed with a full transmission rebuild or if there's another underlying issue (e.g., wiring, sensor, or control module). Can anyone advise on what steps to take next? Is it safe to assume that Solenoid B is faulty, or could this be a deeper electronic or mechanical problem? Thanks for your help! --- Note: This issue has been reported in several 2010 Honda Civic VTi models with similar transmission behavior and P0776 codes. The recurring nature of the code after clearing DTCs suggests a persistent hardware or electrical fault, possibly involving solenoid function or signal integrity.
