2010 Chevrolet Aveo P0366 Fault Code: Cam Position Sensor Issue Still Persisting
I recently replaced the cam position sensor on my 2010 Chevrolet Aveo, but the P0366 diagnostic code continues to appear. The engine runs smoothly with good power, and I initially suspected a timing issue—when I started working on it, the engine was out of time. I adjusted the clearance to approximately 0.040 inches. However, the code persists. Could this be due to incorrect sensor installation or an underlying issue with the ECM? Any advice on troubleshooting this specific fault code would be greatly appreciated.
The P0366 code indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected an incorrect or missing camshaft signal. It is unlikely that a new ECM is required. Instead, use an OBD2 scanner to check the CKP (crankshaft position) to CMP (camshaft position) signal offset and correlation. If the signal is intermittent, ensure that the camshaft position sensor provides a proper signal for engine start—though the engine may run if the signal is lost intermittently.
