2009 Chevrolet Cobalt P2105 Code: Throttle Actuator Control System Forced Engine Shutdown - Troubleshooting Guide

Model: 2009 Chevy Cobalt Fault Code: P2105 Posted: 2019-04-16 21:41

Hi everyone, I own a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt and am experiencing intermittent engine shutdowns. The vehicle will suddenly lose power, requiring me to stop and restart the engine before throttle response returns. After scanning with an OBD2 scanner, the only fault code detected was P2105: 'Throttle Actuator Control System Forced Engine Shutdown'. I've checked for additional codes, but none were found. Can anyone provide guidance on how to properly diagnose or fix this issue? Is there a known common cause specific to 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt models or the Chev platform in general?

https://www.obd-codes.com/p2105 - This is the official OBD-II code explanation for P2105. The code indicates a fault in the throttle actuator control system that triggers an engine shutdown to prevent unsafe operation.

Thanks Mohawk, I've already reviewed that page. However, I'm hoping there's a known common issue specific to my 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt model or the Chev platform. The problem only shows up intermittently and no other diagnostic codes are present, which makes it harder to pinpoint.
