2009 Chevrolet Aveo P0101 P0138 P1400 P2271 - Hesitation and Surging on Takeoff

Model: 2009 chevy aveo Fault Code: P0101 Posted: 2016-04-12 11:32

My 2009 Chevrolet Aveo is experiencing hesitation followed by sudden surging during takeoff. The vehicle has been diagnosed with multiple OBD2 trouble codes: P0101 (Mass Airflow Sensor Range/Performance Problem), P0138 (Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction), P1400 (Fuel System Issue), and P2271 (Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit). I have already replaced the spark plugs and coil pack, but the issue persists. I'm seeking advice on how to diagnose and resolve these codes effectively.

The symptoms you're describing—hesitation and surging—are commonly linked to vacuum leaks, a faulty Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor, or a failing oxygen (O2) sensor. Begin by checking for any vacuum leaks, especially in the hoses between the MAF sensor and the intake manifold. Clean the MAF sensor with an approved cleaner and inspect it for dirt or damage. Replace the O2 sensor if necessary and verify wiring integrity. To test, temporarily unplug the MAF sensor to see if the symptoms improve. Additionally, ensure that both the air temperature and coolant temperature sensors are providing accurate readings. After addressing these components, clear the codes using an OBD2 scanner and monitor for any recurrence.
