2008 GMC Sierra / Suburban P0121 Throttle Position Sensor Fault Diagnosis
I recently encountered DTC P0121 on my 2008 GMC Suburban. I've already checked the wiring and pedal sensor connections, but I'm unsure of other potential causes since the vehicle doesn't have throttle position sensor (TPS) tips available. What else could be contributing to this fault code?
DTC P0121 indicates a performance issue with Throttle Position Sensor 1 (TPS1), which is located on the throttle body. The pedal position sensor (PPS) is housed within the throttle pedal itself. The phrase 'it doesn't have tips?' appears to be unclear — likely referring to the absence of physical TPS tip sensors. To diagnose, use an OBD2 scanner to monitor the TPS signal: it should show a smooth voltage curve with no missing or erratic readings. Ensure the sensor is functioning properly and that there are no intermittent signals or voltage drops.
