2008 Outlander P2423 Code: Causes and Diagnosis with Related Codes O133, O153, O441
Good afternoon everyone. I'm currently experiencing a P2423 diagnostic trouble code on my 2008 Toyota Outlander XLS AWD V6. In addition to P2423, I've also observed intermittent codes O133 (Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1), O153 (Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2), and O441 (Purge Control System Malfunction). While all these codes relate to the vehicle's emissions system, I suspect a single underlying issue may be triggering multiple faults. I'm looking for any insights or troubleshooting steps that could help identify and resolve this problem. Any experience with similar issues on this model year or related systems would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your input.
It's possible that an open purge valve (P0441) is causing the issue. To test this, pinch off the vacuum line connecting the purge valve to the intake manifold. Then clear the codes and monitor whether they return during normal driving conditions. This simple test can help determine if the purge system is malfunctioning and contributing to multiple emissions-related errors.
