OBD Error Codes P0170 and P0173 on 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300: Causes and Fixes
After an oil change at Mr Lube, my 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300 now displays a lit amber warning light along with OBD error codes P0170 and P0173. These codes indicate a mixture imbalance, typically related to fuel vapor or air intake issues. I'm seeking advice on how to diagnose and resolve this issue without costly repairs. Any insights from owners or mechanics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
This issue often occurs when the airbox assembly — the rear plastic cover atop the engine housing the air filters — is not properly seated over the MAF sensor and throttle body. The circular protrusion on the airbox should fit securely inside the MAF cavity at the back of the engine bay. If the technician did not fully secure it during maintenance, this misalignment can trigger P0170 and P0或P0173 codes. Simply reseating the airbox usually resolves the problem.
