2008 Kia Sportage P0133 OBD2 Code Meaning and Fix

Model: 2008 Kia Sportage Fault Code: P1033 Posted: 2016-06-24 13:22

The check engine light has come on in my 2008 Kia Sportage, and the diagnostic tool shows fault code P0133. This code indicates a problem with the oxygen sensor in bank 1 of the vehicle's exhaust system. Specifically, it suggests that the sensor is not providing accurate readings, which can lead to poor fuel efficiency and increased emissions. The issue typically occurs when the oxygen sensor becomes contaminated or worn out over time. I've confirmed this through an OBD2 scanner, and the code is consistently showing as P0133.

My 2008 Kia Sportage showed a P0133 code after an OBD2 scan. The diagnosis was that the oxygen sensor in bank 1, located just under the exhaust manifold, had failed and needed replacement.
