CEL Keeps Returning After Reset on 2008 Jetta 2.5 SE Despite Normal Operation

Model: 2008 Jetta 2.5 SE Fault Code: P0111 Posted: 2017-01-25 13:26

I'm experiencing a persistent Check Engine Light (CEL) on my 2008 Jetta 2.5 SE that reappears after I reset it, typically after the vehicle has sat for several hours or overnight. The car runs normally under all conditions, and I've already replaced the camshaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, and VVT solenoid. Despite these replacements, the issue persists. I don't believe the engine is out of timing since it operates smoothly during driving. This recurring CEL is very frustrating. Has anyone else encountered this problem on a 2008 Jetta 2.5 SE? Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Note: I've also replaced the oil and filter regularly, using full synthetic Castrol oil, to rule out lubrication-related issues.

By 'VVT oil sensor,' do you mean the VVT solenoid? Other potential causes to consider include wiring faults or low oil pressure. These could be contributing factors even if the engine runs fine under load.
