2008 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.3L Frequently Throws P0011, P0012, P0026, and P0300 Codes - Diagnosis & Solutions

Model: 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe Fault Code: P0011 Posted: 2016-02-29 20:26

My 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with a 3.3L engine has recently triggered multiple diagnostic trouble codes: P0011, P0012, P0026, P0300, P0302, and P0306. I've already performed the recommended ohm tests on the Oil Control Valve (OCV) for both Bank 1 and Bank 2, measuring 7.2 ohms and 7.4 ohms respectively. When applying 12 volts to each OCV, they activated as specified by the manufacturer, with no signs of obstruction or failure. After clearing the codes, I completed a full oil and filter change, only for the same codes to reappear shortly afterward. Given that all fault codes are linked to Bank 1 and not Bank 2, I believe oil pressure is unlikely to be the root cause. The vehicle runs normally under normal conditions but exhibits an intermittent shaking at idle. This issue resolves once the engine warms up, after which only P0011, P0015, and P0026 remain in the system. There has been no noticeable drop in fuel economy or increase in emissions. I'm seeking expert insight into what might be causing these persistent codes and the idle shake—especially since the timing-related codes (P0011 and P0012) are common to solenoid issues, while P0026 specifically points to a solenoid circuit fault. Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

P0011 and P0012 typically indicate timing issues, often related to the oil control solenoid. However, P0026 specifically points to a fault in the solenoid circuit—check for loose connections, corrosion, or frayed wiring at the solenoid connector. Ensure the connection is tight and secure. Perform a KOEO (Key Off, Engine Off) voltage check on the solenoid circuit to verify proper signal delivery. Adding a bottle of RisoLone engine oil treatment may help improve performance in some cases, but it's not a fix for underlying hardware issues.
