How to Fix P2279 Code on 2008 Honda Ridgeline: Diagnosis and Oil Leak Concerns

Model: 2008 Honda Ridgeline Fault Code: P2279 Posted: 2017-04-03 16:02

I'm currently experiencing the P2279 diagnostic trouble code on my 2008 Honda Ridg- line. After researching online, I performed an engine inspection by listening for hissing or whistling sounds. Within about a minute, I noticed smoke emanating from the left side of the engine. I'm unsure whether this indicates a significant leak or where exactly it might be originating. While the P2279 code specifically points to an air intake system leak, I'm wondering if this could be related to an oil leak—could one issue trigger or mask the other? I need clear guidance on how to properly diagnose both potential problems without causing further damage.

Refer to common trouble codes in this forum for detailed causes and solutions. To test for an air intake leak, spray water around the air intake system—specifically after the MAF sensor and near the throttle body and intake manifold. Look for visible bubbles; their presence indicates a vacuum leak. This is a reliable method to confirm if the P2279 code is due to an intake leak.
