2008 Ford Edge P0352 Ignition Coil 2 Fault: Diagnosis and Repair Guide

Model: 2008 Ford Edge Fault Code: P0352 Posted: 2016-09-12 09:02

My 2008 Ford Edge has triggered a check engine light with fault code P0352, indicating an issue with Ignition Coil 2. I replaced all six ignition coils and spark plugs, which temporarily reset the ECU and allowed the car to start. However, after about 10 minutes of driving, I turned off the vehicle and restarted it—only for the check engine light to return immediately. I also added a Lucas fuel treatment to the tank with no improvement. The issue persists. Given that P0352 relates to an ignition coil circuit failure, I'm seeking advice on what else could be causing this problem. Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Replacing multiple parts without proper diagnosis can be costly and ineffective. Fuel treatments are not a solution for ignition-related issues like P0352. For reference: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0352 Key diagnostic tip: When performing a KOEO (Key On, Engine Off) test, check if there is 12V at the violet-colored wire of Ignition Coil 2—this is located in the rear center position. Also, confirm whether you used Motorcraft spark plugs. These are Ford's factory-recommended specifications and may impact performance and reliability compared to aftermarket brands like Autolite.

No, I used Autolite spark plugs instead of the recommended Motorcraft ones.

Just a heads-up: Motorcraft plugs are specifically designed for Ford vehicles and meet OEM specifications. In contrast, Autolite plugs are not factory-rated and may not perform reliably in certain engine conditions. While this doesn't directly cause P0352, it's worth noting when evaluating part recommendations—especially from non-OEM sources. Focus should remain on circuit integrity, particularly for Ignition Coil 2.
