2008 Ford F150 Idle Rough with P2195 and P2197 Codes - Fuel Pressure & EGR Fix
Hi everyone, I'm having a serious issue with my 2008 Ford F15-0. The engine idles very roughly and often stalls when it's running. Diagnostic codes P2195 and P2197 are consistently showing up. I checked fuel pressure and found it was initially low at around 24 psi. After replacing the fuel pump and filter, pressure improved to between 34-49 psi. However, the idle issue persists—either the engine won't run or runs poorly when it does. A smoke test revealed a small leak at the EGR valve (caused by an O-ring), which I repaired. Despite this, the problem remains. I've also cleaned the MAF sensor and replaced the stock air filter with a new one. I tested each fuel injector individually and all appear functional. I'm now wondering if the injector drive module might be faulty—some sources suggest it can fail without triggering a diagnostic code. Additionally, I recently replaced the camshaft position sensor with no improvement. Fuel pressure specifications for this model are typically 28-45 psi, so my current reading is within range but still not solving the idle issue. Any further suggestions or diagnostics would be greatly appreciated.
Check for vacuum leaks—try the old-school carburetor cleaner spray test to identify any hidden leaks. Also, clean the MAF sensor thoroughly; avoid using an oiled air filter as it can interfere with airflow and sensor readings.
