P0700 Diagnostic Code on 2008 Chevy HHR: Can Tire Pressure Sensor Issue Cause Inspection Failure?
We recently moved from Massachusetts to Tennessee and brought our 2008 Chevrolet HHR in for a state inspection. The vehicle failed due to the P0700 diagnostic trouble code. We recently completed a service maintenance visit, during which no transmission issues were reported, and the car performs normally under all driving conditions. The service light remains on, but this is due to the absence of tire pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS) on our rims—our vehicle does not come equipped with TPMS. Since the inspection failure is tied to this warning light, we are wondering whether the P0700 code is actually related to the missing TPMS or if it's a misdiagnosis. If so, what steps can we take to pass the inspection without having to replace all rims with TPMS-equipped ones? We're looking for a cost-effective and technically accurate solution that aligns with vehicle standards.
